NET ZERO BY 2040
Not an empty promise, but a clear and realistic plan which is certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Reducing our carbon emissions footprint to zero is one of the most important things we can do to protect our collective future.
TAKING CARBON OUT OF OUR FOOD
Menu decarbonisation:
The food we buy and serve is our biggest contributor to our environmental footprint, so is an area we take very seriously.
We use a carbon calculator tool when designing and writing our dish recipes, and our chefs are trained in low carbon ingredients with no compromise in quality or taste.
Go Less Waste
So much quality food goes to waste every day, while so many people in our local communities go hungry. We work with our site teams and clients to reduce wastage in many ways, from encouraging customers to only take what they will eat, to making quality left-over food free to take away, to giving it to those in need in our local communities.
So much of our food today is taken away, and non-compostable and plastic packaging is doing huge damage to our world. We encourage customers to use crockery or bring their own containers where possible. We work with our packaging partners to find and use the best packaging options available with the lowest impact on the environment.
Giving back
Gather & Gather teams and staff love to give back to the local communities where we are based, through social and environmental charitable actions. All our people have 2 days each year to choose how they want to give back.
TRUSTED SUPPLY PARTNERS
We want to use our supply chain for good and to accelerate progress to a positive food system at scale. This means building strong relationships with suppliers, getting better data and transparency on where our food is coming from, ensuring we’ve got the basics right, and that we’re pursuing innovation with our suppliers.
Award winning St Ewe Eggs
Our good friends at St Ewe supply us with the most delicious free range RSPA assured eggs. For them, welfare comes first – every single St Ewe egg comes from free-range hens (their Girls!) that have plenty of space to roam in the clean, fresh air. collecting eggs by hand every morning. Happy healthy hens make delicious, highly nutritious eggs – a core staple on our menus and a customer favourite. ”It’s a pleasure and an honour to be working with Gather & Gather.
